Budget 2018 Fails to Live up to Promise of Modi’s Commitment of B.R. Ambedkar and Minority
Union Budget 2018 has busted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment toward Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. If we look at the Ministry of Social Justice and Right, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a shocking budget in which Modi led government drastically reduced the allocation for the ministry.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Center’s budget was Rs 100 crore in 2016-17 but, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley found it excessive and reduced it 60 percent in Budget 2017. Now, they once again slashed the budget and merely allocated Rs 15 crore in Budget 2018. What message is Modi government sending to B.R. Ambedkar’s followers? It seems clear, Modi has no interest to make them independent. It’s time to think, how can a government reduce 85 percent Budget of a single organization?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself inaugurated
“It would be an important place for research on social and economic issues. On the same day, Modi had also inaugurated the two statues of Ambedkar in Janpath last year. The center will prove to be an inspiration for the promotion of the thoughts and teachings of Dr. Ambedkar.”
But, the successive budget shows, Modi government is not taking any interest in B.R. Ambedkar. And they do not want next generation to see Baba Saheb Ambedkar as a role model.
This is not enough, Arun Jaitley also slashed the Budget of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar National Memorial. Whose earlier budget was Rs 62 Crore, but they reduced it drastically and allocated only Rs 5 crore. The government has also reduced the budget of organizations, who work for the development and welfare of the people by Rs 20 Crore.

National Cleaning workshop Finance and Development Corporation’s budget continues to slash as the year passes. In 2016-17 the Budget was allocated for the Organization was Rs 50 Crore. If we look at the Budget 2018, it was reduced to Rs 30 crore.
On one hand, Modi government is continuously launching a campaign to make people aware of Importance of education. But, when it comes to providing them aid in terms of Scholarship they do not seem to take any interest.
If we talk about the Post Metric Scholarship, NDA led government drastically cut the budget. In 2017-18 the budget for minority community was Rs 3367.99 crore. But the government has chosen to reduce by Rs 367.99 crore and allocated Rs 3.000 crore.
Arun Jaitley Also Reduced the Budget for Education Sector
Apart from Post Metric Scholarship, Arun Jaitley also reduced the Budget from Rs 3557.69 crore to Rs 3290.46 crore in 2018 Budget. The government’s intention behind their hollow promises related to Minority Community is evident.
