Indian Christian Expat Builds and Gifts Mosque Worth 1.3 Million Dirham to Workers Ahead of Ramadan 2018
Christian Expat and Indian Businessman Cheriyan, who aarrived in UAE with a few hundreds of dirhams in the year 2003 and now gifted 1.3 Million Dirham cost Masjid to Its worker in Fujaurah ahead of Ramadan 2018.
Cheriyan, Indian National has been in the news owing to its noble work since he gifted A Mosque to hundreds of workers in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the report, Cheriyan built the mosque for Muslim workers who have been living in a worker accommodation. The mosque (Masjid) is built at a cost of Dh 1.3 million in the East Ville Real Estate complex in Al Hayl Industrial Area.
If we talk about tge area of this Mosque its premisses can easily accomodsttes almost 300 worshippers at a time along with facilitating for another 700 to pray in the interlocked courtyard.

While talking to Gulfnews Cheriyan said,
“They have to spend at least Dh20 to go to Fujairah city or another industrial area to attend the Juma prayer in a mosque. So, I thought it will make them happy if I build a mosque here next to their accommodation.”
According to this Indian National man, the mosque is now fully built and ready to open with the full support of Awqaf in Fujairah.
The Awqaf officials were surprised and happy when they got to know I am a Christian who wishes to build a mosque. They have offered me all the support and were ready to offer free electricity and water and other facilities,” said Saji. But he refuses to take any help or support any help from anyone.
“When word spread about my mosque, many other people also offered cash donations, construction materials like sand and paint. But I have politely refused all those offers as I would like to pay from my pocket for this mosque,” he quoted as saying.
“I have grown up seeing communities living together in utmost harmony. We celebrate all religions’ festivals and I don’t judge or treat people based on religion, caste, colour or nationality. The UAE is another example of communal harmony and tolerance,” he further said.
He named the mosque Mariam, Umm Eisa (Mary, the Mother of Jesus), after an Abu Dhabi mosque was renamed so in 2017.

The businessman who has been through a lot of ups and down while building an empire of Dh68 million credits all the success to his wife Elsy.
Cheriyan’s noble work comes at a time when a people of different religion are hungry of other religions blood buy his work will send a message of humanity, and restire the faith in humanity irrespective of religion, caste creed or nationals. It makes us believe that there are still many people who only want to spread the word of humanity, peace harmony, and consider humanity is a religion.
