President Ramnath Kovind, will not take part in the Iftar party this year as he has promised to not perform any religious function or party inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Mr. Kovind who became president of India last year, decided not to observe any religious observance at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Press Secretary to President said that there would be no religious celebration and party on taxpayer expense. Since Pratibha patil the iftar party had been celebrated but unfortunately it could not be observed this year.
Not only Iftar party even Diwali Christmas and Holi also was not celebrated since he took the office on July. No religious festivities to be observe until i got retirement, he added.
However, the first citizen of India wished all fellow citizens of India on every major religious events since he assumed office on last year July.
He added that the decision is in keeping with the principles of a secular state and applies to all religious occasions, irrespective of religion, ani.
Hosting Iftar party was begun when Pratibha Patil became 12th President of India from 2007 to 2012 and continued till the tenure of 13th President of India Pranab Mukharji, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In fact, Iftar is the evening meal every year Muslims take fast in the month of Ramazan. Fasting get start in the morning from the Azan of Fajar and break at sunset.
