Supreme Court Clears Padmaavat Ban, but BJP Leader Adamant to Protes
As The Supreme Court Granted permission to release the Most Controversial movie Padmavaat. A former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Thursday adamant to ban the screening of the film.
He is quoted as saying,
“He would continue to protest against the film Padmavat, if he had to hang himself.” The Apex Court has earlier postponed the movie’s releasing date, which was supposed to release on December 1.

BJP Chief and Media Co-ordinator Suraj Pal Amu quoted, “Today Supreme Court order hurt the feelings of crores of Hindus. The protest against the film will continue even if I am hanged. The release of the film will divide the nation.”

A group also announced Rs 10 crore Bounty to anyone who would behead Sanjay Leela Bhansali, or Deepika Padukone, who plays the role of Rani Padmani in the movie.
Meanwhile, members of the Rajput community also threatened to burnt down the cinema halls if they released the movie in theatre. They also submitted a memorandum to Chhattisgarh Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra demanding a ban on the release of Padmaavat in the state.
“Cinema halls screening of the film would be burnt down. No changes hereafter are acceptable. We want a complete ban. This is our last warning and consequences will have to be faced if it is not adhered to. Maharani Padmavati is the symbol of our pride,” said a member.

Governments of Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan had declared that they will not allow screening of the movie, which stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
while the Movie Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s said that, State government can not issue a ban order once CBFC passed.
The Producer of Padmaavat Moves to Supreme Court
The producers moved the top court through senior lawyer Harish Salve and advocate Mahesh Agarwal and submitted, in a petition, that the movie has undergone changes including in its title as suggested by the CBFC. Terming the issue to be serious one, Salve said,
“If states are banning a film, then it is destroying federal structure. It is a serious matter. If somebody has a problem,then he or she can approach appellate tribunal for relief. State can’t touch the content of a film.”
Salve also requested the Central government to pass a direction to the states for a better and an effective step and solution.
